Swamp Thing

Science transformed him into a monster. Love changed him even more!

RELEASED 19 Feb 19821h 31m★ 5.4 TMDB

Mutated by his own secret formula, Dr. Alec Holland becomes Swamp Thing, a half-human, half-plant superhero who will stop at nothing to rescue government agent Alice Cable and defeat his evil arch nemesis...even if it costs him his life.

Why it matters in DC

Alec Holland's transformation places a loss of ordinary human identity at the centre of a superhero story. The film gives DC's catalogue a blend of science, horror and protection, with the apparent monster taking the role usually occupied by a recognisably human hero.
