DC's Stargirl
Keep your friends close and your frenemies closer.
Courtney Whitmore, a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl, discovers her step-father has a secret: he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. "Borrowing" the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, she becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.
Why it matters in DC
Courtney Whitmore's discovery of a previous hero's legacy becomes the starting point for a new generation. The inherited staff connects family history to superhero responsibility, making the question of who carries an old symbol forward central to the series.
